BRS supports the following payment policies for IPF services:
- Claims priced in accordance with the Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Prospective Payment System (IPF PPS)
- Built in DRG grouper for CMS DRGs and MS DRGs
- List of Acute Inpatient Psychiatric hospitals by facility, searchable by National Provider Identifier (NPI), 6-character CMS Certification Number (CCN) and facility name
- Type of Bill logic
- CBSA based wage index adjustment
- Per diem rate adjusted by the cardinal number of the day of the stay, patient's age, DRG, complications and co-morbidities, wage index, cost of living adjustment (COLA) and other factors
- Outlier add-on for exceptionally costly stays calculated using the provider-specific cost-to-charge (CCR) ratio
- Electroconvulsive Therapy adjustment
- Full service emergency department adjustment
- For past transitional years, final payment is calculated as a blend of the federal payment and a facility-specific rate
